Figure Drawing at Academy of Realist Art, Boston
Sat. 10 - 1 p.m. Oct. 1 - Nov. 19
Thurs. 6 - 9 p.m. Sept. 29 - Nov. 17
Instructor - Emmy De MusisRendering the human form is the most difficult task in drawing; the beginning stages of construction are the most important. This 8-week course will address these early stages and their challenges. Working from the nude model, students will be given a step-by-step system that works to accurately capture gesture, proportion and body type. From this general block-in we will advance toward an exploration of the figure's specific contour and shadow line. This course helps students to master the early stages of figure drawing by practicing it. Most poses will be 2 weeks in length. All levels welcome. Cost $300.

New! - Saturday Portrait Class at Academy of Realist Art, Boston
Sat., Oct. 1st - Nov. 19th Instructor - Brian MacNeil
In a systematic way students will learn how to accurately construct, draw and render a portrait from the live model. The emphasis of the first half of the course will be learning to see the structure, forms and planes of the head. Much attention will be given to the proportions and anatomy of facial features - helping to bring out the likeness and character of the sitter. In the second half of the course students will learn to carefully observe tonal relationships, compress the values and render the form conceptually. Cost $300
