Michael Bilotta - Beyond Photography

Sometimes I work with an artists that blows me away.  Michael Bilotta is one of those experiences.  While I have done lots of photo shoots, typically other than minor tweaks, that is the end of the creative process.  Not with Michael.  The photo is the jumping off point for his creative genius.

Michael starts with an idea and the photo is the first step.  Like a beautiful painting starts with a good drawing, Michael's art starts with a good photo.  Utilizing the tools of photoshop, he is able to coax the surreal imagery from his mind and soul to create images that provoke an inner stirring within the viewer.

Often it is said that the digital camera and photo has destroyed photography as an art form.  Take a thousand shots of something and surely there will be one good one in the bunch.  The evolution of technology and how it impacts art can be debated while in the meantime, beautiful works are being created via this medium.

While there is only a sample of the work in this blog post, you can view and follow Michael's work at his website:  http://michaelbilotta.com/
