Painting the Human Head with Tom Ouellette

Clivia
Self Portrait - Tom Ouellette

Painting portraits is a traditional path artists take to become an accomplished painter.  Tom's studio is carefully set up to provide optimum lighting conditions for painting from the model. A controlled palette for flesh is taught along with the four stages of painting. The advantage of this system, particularly for new students, is that the structure of this program keeps them on track. Students know where they are and how to proceed and can 'go back' a step or two without starting over. Their focus is guided and this gives more accurate and faster results. The model will take the same pose for four 3-hr classes.    8 weeks

Boston Figurative Art Center announces Spring Schedule

Damon Lehrer will be teaching portrait and head drawing on Thursday nights at the Boston Figurative Art Center at 6 Vernon Street in Somerville, starting May 10 and running for 4 weeks.  For paying members of the BFAC ($25/month) the four class series costs $100.  You can join in at any point for $25/class if there is space.

Wednesday mornings at 10am -1 am he'll be leading a class on painting the nude, painting his own painting alongside the students as he demonstrates his techniques.  The pay structure is the same as the Thursday evening class.

Jason Cheeseman-Meyer, author of a popular book on perspective for illustrators, will teach a one evening "introduction to perspective" class on Wednesday May 16, at a special rate of $15 for members of the BFAC.
